Christian band’s semi-truck stolen in Topeka while on its 20th-anniversary tour

TOPEKA—The Topeka Police Department answered a call to help recover a semi-truck around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, October 6th. The truck belonged to the Christian band Casting Crowns, playing at the Topeka Performing Arts Center that evening. Sergeant Joshua Klamm said the TPD found the vehicle on I-70 around 11:00 p.m., where they arrested a 39-year-old woman in connection with the alleged theft. The semi suffered some minor damage during the incident.

WICHITA—A Kansas felon is under investigation for a crime involving a laser pointer. According to the United States Attorney, Cletis Ringwald, 68, of Lyons, was indicted on one count of aiming a laser pointer at an aircraft.

RENO COUNTY—According to a media release from Reno County Emergency Management, on Monday, September 25th, the Reno County Fire District #4 was dispatched to hay bales on fire at Longview and Herren Road. Approximately 100 square bales were on fire, stacked about 30 feet high.

HARVEY COUNTY—The Harvey County Sheriff’s Office has identified a man whose body was found in a local park on Sunday, September 17th. According to a news release, 31-year-old Tyler Lee Ford was found dead in the Sunset Ridge area of East Park on the lake’s southwest side.

TOPEKA—A car was pulled out of a pond on Monday, September 10th, after it was involved in a two-vehicle crash at a west Topeka Intersection at SW 6th and Gage. Police said a black Chevrolet Malibu and a red Dodge pickup truck collided in the intersection.

SALINE COUNTY—A Kansas teen, seventeen-year-old Cadence Halfhill of Ellsworth, was injured in a single-vehicle accident on Sunday, September 3rd, on North Brookville Road in Saline County. According to Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan, Halfhill was traveling southbound in the 2800 Block of North Brookville Road when her 1997 Ford Explorer tire dropped off the edge of the roadway, causing her to swerve.

RAWLINS COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating alleged cattle theft in northwest Kansas. According to a media release from the sheriff's office, a member of the Kansas Livestock Association reported that 17 head of 200-350 pound calves were stolen in mid-July ten miles northeast of Atwood.
